Music fan's £0.25m concert
MUSIC fan Martin Ainscough (pictured) has paid out £250,000 to have two of his favourite performers appear in an exclusive concert in Manchester.
The millionaire tycoon - who recently banked £225m by selling his crane hire company - lodged the massive bid in a Children In Need charity auction to hire singers Katie Melua and Aled Jones.
Now he is planning to have the pair perform at Manchester's Revolution bar in Manchester early next year to help raise funds for the Prince's Trust.
Martin, chairman of the Wigan-based Ainscough Group of Companies, said he is a fan of both performers and can't wait for the concert....more info

アンダーワールドの新譜／来日／移籍メモ。10月に新譜「Oblivion with Bells」をリリース（CD付のDVDも同時発売）した彼らだが、映像集団TOMATOを従えて11月末に来日。ツアーには今年のフジロックにも出演したシミアン・モバイル・ディスコ、DJアンドリュー・ウェザオール、革新的なアンビエント、エレクトリック・ミュージックのジ・オーブ（東京公演のみ）、そしてアンダーワールドも大絶賛するノルウェーの120 DAYS（同）と、豪華なラインアップ。会場内にはアートスペースや映画館も設けられる予定。東京公演をいくかどうかギリギリまで検討中です。

春のニュースの通りこの作品で彼らは東京ブロードバンド子会社のTrafficと契約している。かなり日本へのアプローチを意識しているのがわかる。同時に、CDが売れないこの時代にV2レコーズに見切りをつけ、ネット上でアルバムを公開するプロジェクト「The Riverrun Project」を行っている。やはりテクノ系のアーティストは音楽だけでなく、その仕掛けもいつも試みが面白いです。以前ここでも伝えたRADIOHEADネタや、最近のMOBYのニュースも今後注目です。
The Prodigy are to make a welcome return to music with a new album on their brand new label Ragged Flag.
The group started the label in order to have full creative control and founder member Liam Howlett revealed that they have been working on it for some time. “We have been planning this for a while and we are looking forward to building our label up, starting off with the release of the new Prodigy album.
